Super Info welcomes the recent announcement from the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) that it has fined Information Support Australia Pty Ltd (trading as ‘Super Information Team’) for breaches of telemarketing rules.

Super Info’s chief executive, Dan Blackman, made a public announcement in January 2021 critical of the telemarketing campaign and signalling that Super Info was not associated with Information Support Australia Pty Ltd.

“We confirm that Super Info is not in any way affiliated with Information Support Australia Pty Ltd, Super Information Team, or their telemarketing campaign,” he said.

“We do not participate in cold call marketing campaigns and we believe the actions of Information Support Australia Pty Ltd, including their agents, are reprehensible.”

Mr Blackman explained that Super Info had been inundated with calls from concerned and sometimes angry members of the public due to the likeness of the trading names.

“We are pleased that ACMA is standing up for the Australians and Australian businesses impacted by cold-call telemarking campaigns,” he said.

“Telemarketing, like that undertaken by Information Support Australia Pty Ltd, interrupts thousands of hardworking people and businesses every day and we hope that the size of the penalty sends a strong message to respect the wishes of those who don’t want to be disturbed.”

Mr Blackman was also hopeful that the Australian Government would extend the Do Not Call register to cover business telephone numbers as well.

“Unlike individuals, commercial entities cannot register their telephone numbers to prevent cold calls and this is costing Australian businesses millions in lost productivity from answering unwanted calls,” he said.

Super Info has been operating since 2016 and specialises in providing family law valuations as well as expert consultations to help members better understand their Australian Government and military defined benefit schemes.
